Miguel Jorge

Senior Partner at BMJ since June 2011, he is former Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (2007-2011). He held various positions in entities and associations during his career. He worked from 1963 to 1987 as a journalist in the main Brazilian media outlets, such as Jornal do Brasil, Folha de S. Paulo and O Estado de S. Paulo, where he was editor-in-chief. He also worked at the Faculty of Communication at Universidade Paulista, as a teacher and head of the Journalism Department. In 1987, Miguel Jorge joined the board of directors of Autolatina Brasil (Volkswagen do Brasil and Ford do Brasil) and from 1998 to 2000, he was vice-president of Human Resources and Legal and Corporate Affairs at Volkswagen do Brasil. In 2001, he joined Banco Santander Brasil as Executive Vice-President of Human Resources and Legal Affairs and Corporate Affairs. From 2003 to 2007, he was a member of the Economic and Social Development Council of the Presidency of the Republic, and from 2007 to 2010, President of the Board of Directors for the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). Currently, in addition to consultancy, Miguel Jorge is an advisor to the companies MAN-Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus and Libra Terminais.
