Rodrigo Almeida has been a partner and senior consultant in Government Relations at BMJ since 2013. The economist made his professional career at Monsanto do Brasil, where he worked in the commercial area of the former Plastics Division, in the Rubber Chemicals Division as Product Manager, in the financial area as Credit and Collection Manager and as Price Control Manager, during the period when Brazil adopted price controls for the main products on the market, and, finally, in the Corporate Affairs area as Director. It was in this area that, over the last 20 years, he contributed to the construction of important regulatory frameworks related to the introduction of biotechnology in Brazil, such as the Biosafety Law, and to the development and implementation of a remuneration system that allowed continued investment in soybean and cotton crops in the country, such as the Patent Law and the Law for the Protection of Cultivars. Rodrigo also served as a Fiscal Advisor to the Brazilian Chemical Association (ABIQUIM), was Vice-President of the Brazilian Food Industry Association (ABIA), and Director of the National Union of the Animal Feed Industry (Sindirações). He was also Director of the Center for Industries of the State of São Paulo (CIESP) and a member of the Government Relations Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM).
